About these terms
These terms apply to the CarpAnswers website, articles, directory, forecast, checklists and free tools. If you don't agree, please stop using the site. There are no user accounts and CarpAnswers doesn't sell fishing tackle, licences or venue bookings.
General information, not a guarantee
CarpAnswers publishes general fishing information in good faith. Fishing conditions, tackle specifications, laws, access, prices and venue rules can change, and content may contain mistakes. Check important information with the relevant authority, manufacturer or venue before acting on it.
Use your own judgement and skills. Confirm the rod-licence rules and local restrictions that apply where you fish. Water, weather, casting, wildlife, snags and fishing equipment can be hazardous; follow venue rules, use suitable equipment and stop when conditions are unsafe.
Forecast and tool limitations
The Bait Calculator suggests quantities to take and a starting feed; it doesn't measure the appetite of fish in a venue. The Bite Time Predictor turns available daily or three-hour forecasts and local daylight into hourly planning scores, not hourly weather observations or probabilities of catching. The Moon and Solunar Calendar shows calculated astronomical events and an indicative solunar rating. Solunar theory is not scientifically proven to predict carp captures; none of these scores establishes that it is safe or permitted to fish.
The bite rating is a weather-based indication, not a promise of fish activity, catch success or safe conditions. Provider data can be delayed, inaccurate, incomplete or unavailable. Reel-capacity, distance-stick and rig-selector results are estimates or reading suggestions, not manufacturer specifications or confirmation that a setup is safe for a particular water. Packing checklists are general prompts, not confirmation that a session, journey or item is legal, safe or suitable.
Saved forecast choices, session plans, fishing-log records, checklist progress and swim spot cards remain only in the browser where they were saved. You're responsible for checking them before use and keeping an exported or separate copy you need. Browser settings, clearing site data, choosing to replace records during a valid import or changing device can remove them. Forecast conditions saved with a log are provider estimates, not measurements at the exact swim.
The Session Planner uses only the forecast intervals available for your actual planned hours. A longer trip can extend beyond weather coverage; a score for covered hours is not a forecast for the entire trip. Rig Builder recommendations depend on your answers and cannot establish that an unfamiliar lakebed, component combination or lead-release system is safe. Read the full tutorial and follow the exact component manufacturer's instructions.
The Wind & Swim Planner interprets general forecast wind for the selected location, not wind measured at a particular swim. Shelter, banks, trees and the shape of a water can change conditions. Visible fish, venue rules and safe access take priority over general wind guidance.
The Tackle Setup Builder divides your budget into planning allowances, not current retail prices or a purchasable basket. CarpAnswers has not personally tested every example. Check the exact size, specification, compatibility and retailer's current price before buying.
Nearby fishing results cover our existing directory, not every fishery. Distances are straight-line estimates from verified full-postcode areas, not road distances, gate locations or permission to fish. Venues without a reliable postcode remain in the county directory but are excluded from radius results. Confirm the entrance, facilities, availability and current rules directly with the venue.
Travel, entry, customs, driving and health requirements can change. Check the current official guidance, your travel provider and the fishery shortly before a French or other overseas trip.
Editorial process and illustrative material
Some articles and images may be prepared with assistance from automated or generative-AI tools and then reviewed and edited before publication. Illustrative images don't establish that CarpAnswers visited the pictured venue, made the pictured catch or tested the depicted tackle. Where an article relies on manufacturer specifications or desk research rather than personal testing, it should not be read as a claim of hands-on testing.

Links are provided for convenience and don't amount to an endorsement or guarantee. Third-party sites, retailers, forecast providers and fisheries control their own content, availability, products, prices, privacy practices and terms. Verify venue details directly before travelling or paying.
Copyright and acceptable use
Unless stated otherwise, CarpAnswers owns or is licensed to use the site's editorial content, design and branding. You may access it for personal use, link to pages and quote short passages with appropriate attribution. You must not republish substantial parts, remove notices, misuse the site, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation or use it unlawfully. Third-party names, images and trade marks remain the property of their respective owners.
Availability and liability
We may correct, replace, suspend or withdraw content or features without notice, and don't promise uninterrupted or error-free access. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CarpAnswers is not responsible for loss caused by reliance on general information, unavailable services, third-party content or data stored only in your browser.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing in these terms affects mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
Law, changes and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, mandatory protections that apply in your home jurisdiction are not affected. The courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear a dispute.
